Best Areas to Stay in Tbilisi

The best area to stay in Tbilisi is the Old Tbilisi (Dzveli Tbilisi). However, the area itself is rather big, therefore you may want to consider some micro areas inside the Old Tbilisi to stay in the Georgian capital.

Tbilisi is divided by the Kura River. It is importan to note that there are good areas to stay in Tbilisi on both margins of the river. If you are staying to the West of the Kura River, the best option is the area around the Shota Rustaveli Avenue, the city’s most prolific boulevard.

If your option is to stay to the East of the Kura River, a great area to stay in Tbilisi is around the Marjanshvili Metro Station and along the Agmashenebeli Avenue.

Shota Rustaveli Avenue and Liberty Square Metro

One of the best areas to stay in Tbilisi is the Shota Rustaveli Avenue and its surroundings. This is Tbilisi’s most iconic avenue, and a great point of reference to exploring the city.

The Rustavali avenue is well connected by metro with the Liberty Square Station and also the Rustaveli Station. The avenue in itself is a great place for shopping, eating or just for taking a long stroll. Next to the Liberty Square Station you can also find the Galleria Tbilisi, a great shopping mall right in the center of the Georgian capital.

Marjanshvili Station and Agmashenebeli Avenue

Another great place to stay in Tbilisi is the area around the  Marjanshvili Station and the Agmasheneli Avenue. This area is to the East banks of the Kura river, and is also an excellent place for restaurants and other activities in Tbilisi. This area will also grant you with easy access to the Tbilisi Train Station.

The Agmashenebeli Avenue is bustling and also has a section of it where it becomes a pedestrian street. The pedestrian part of it is full of cafes and restaurants and a good option to enjoy the city’s night life.

When to Visit Tbilisi, Georgia

Tbilisi actually has a rather pleasant weather during most of the year. It has four very defined seasons and a low precipitation level year round. The months of July and August may be at times excessively hot, although temperatures are usually good for outdoor activities. The capital of Tbilisi has some of the best climates for tourism year round in Europe.
